  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp Hot Sauce
  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Corn Starch
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Ginger
  • 1 tsp Salt adjust to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper adjust to taste
  • Peanut oil for frying

Instructions
 

  • Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, mix buttermilk and hot sauce. Place chicken pieces in the mixture, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for enhanced flavor.
  • Prepare the Chicken: Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade and let excess liquid drip off. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Prepare the Spice Blend: In a bowl, combine the flour, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, cumin, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, salt, and pepper.
  • Coat the Chicken: Dredge each chicken piece in the spice blend, ensuring an even coating. Shake off any excess flour.
  • Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350-375°F (175-190°C).
  • Fry the Chicken: Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, a few at a time. Fry until they are golden brown and cooked through, usually 12-15 minutes, depending on the size of the pieces.
  • Drain and Serve: Once the chicken is cooked, place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
