Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, mix buttermilk and hot sauce. Place chicken pieces in the mixture, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for enhanced flavor.
Prepare the Chicken: Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade and let excess liquid drip off. Season with salt and pepper.
Prepare the Spice Blend: In a bowl, combine the flour, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, cumin, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, salt, and pepper.
Coat the Chicken: Dredge each chicken piece in the spice blend, ensuring an even coating. Shake off any excess flour.
Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350-375°F (175-190°C).
Fry the Chicken: Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, a few at a time. Fry until they are golden brown and cooked through, usually 12-15 minutes, depending on the size of the pieces.
Drain and Serve: Once the chicken is cooked, place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
